AGENDA <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />CITY OF MARTINSVILLE, VIRGINIA <br /> <br />City Council Chamber - Municipal Building <br />7:30 P.M.- Tuesday, August 8, 2000 <br /> <br />Invocation - Council Member Terry L. Roop <br /> <br /> I. Business from the floor. <br /> <br />II. Consider adoption of a Resolution in support of plans by the <br /> Martinsville-Henry County Altrusa Club to raise funds ~o purchase <br /> thermal imaging cameras for the Martinsville Fire Department. (See <br /> Enclosure # 1) <br /> COMMENTS: It is recommended that City Council adopt the Resolution <br /> which expresses its gratitude to the Martinsville-Henry County Altrusa <br /> Club for their willingness to raise the funds necessary to purchase this <br /> valuable piece of fire safety equipment. <br /> <br />III. Consider adoption, on emergency basis, of an Ordinance relocating <br /> Voting Precinct No. 4 from the Martinsville High School Front Lobby to <br /> the Martinsville High School Auditorium Lobby on Commonwealth <br /> Boulevard in the City. (See Enclosure #2) <br /> COMMENTS: Dave Worthy has advised that the Civil Rights Division of <br /> the U. S. Department of Justice approved this relocation by letter dated <br /> July 20, 2000, and we recommend that Council adopt this Ordinance. <br /> <br />IV. CONSENT AGENDA: <br /> <br /> A. Set a Public Hearing for August 22, 2000, on a proposed amendment <br /> to Section VI--General Sign Regulations, Paragraph C--Permitted <br /> Signs and Paragraph N--Permitted Signs in Districts of the City's <br /> Zoning Ordinance. (See Enclosure #3) <br /> <br /> V. Consider, in Closed Session, in accordance with the Code of Virginia, <br /> Chapter 21--Freedom of Information Act, Section 2.1-344(A)--Executive <br /> or Closed Meetings, the following: <br /> <br /> A. A prospective business or industry or expansion of an existing <br /> business or industry where no previous announcement has been <br /> <br /> <br />
