July 11,2000 <br /> <br />excellent opportunity. I continue to receive complaints. We cited sixteen violators in <br />May, 72 in June, and eleven so far in July. This program is of no expense to the City." <br />Council Member Roop moved to approve such request for assistance, as authorized by <br />Virginia Code Section 46.2-752.G and 46.2-102; the motion was duly seconded and <br />carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, <br />Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None. <br /> <br /> Council considered a review of the City's Employee Manual. Iris Read, Human <br />Resources Director, stated, "This is a result of meeting with Council Members. I <br />recommend that Council concur and distribute manuals to employees." Council <br />Member Roop stated, "1 don't know that we can determine on hire if an employee may <br />ever report to a family member. There may be a situation where the employee may <br />transfer because it's his or her chosen profession." Council Member Dallas stated, <br />"This clause may be infringing on their rights." Council requested that the City Manager <br />review this section of the Employee Manual and make the necessary corrections. <br />Council Member Roop moved to approve the Employee Manual as red rafted and <br />authorize distribution to employees; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the <br />following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, <br />Roop, Teague; Nays (0)- None. <br /> <br /> Earl B. Reynolds, Jr., City Manager, stated, "1 wanted to announce that Lois <br /> Christensen, Executive Director of Gateway Streetscape Foundation, will present a <br /> workshop entitled 'Working With Volunteers of All Ages' at a national conference in <br /> Nebraska City, Nebraska, sponsored by the National Arbor Day Foundation and the <br /> National Association of Towns and Townships." <br /> <br /> <br />
