The issue is revenue source." <br />Council Member Haskell stated, "lt's encouraging to hear that the County [of Henry] <br />Supervisors are interested at looking at ways to merge services to decrease costs." Dr. <br />Trollinger-stated; "On May 3; .our Board extended an invitation to the County School <br />Board to meet. He haven't received a verbal or written response, yet." Mayor Crabtree <br />stated, "City Council has always been committed to education. We have the best <br />schools in Southwest and Southside Virginia." Council Member Haskell stated, "1 need <br />to express how much I've enjoyed working with the School Board, one of the best in the <br />country. All members are highly professional; they're an outstanding group to work <br />with." Board Members William A. Shackleford, Sr., James H. Johnson, Jr., and <br />Elizabeth R. Sibbick, expressed their thanks and appreciation to Council. <br /> <br /> Sherry Ramsey, Executive Director of the Patrick Henry Development Counei. I, <br />(PHDC), stated, "I'm pleased to announce that the Martinsville and Henry County area <br />is number one in the South in the small market category, according to the Southern <br />Business & Development magazine. The PHDC is also one of the top fifteen economic <br />development groups in the South. We're asking for a four percent increase in payroll, a <br />$1,500 increase in general expenses, an additional $15,500 in promotions, and a <br />consultant for information technology or other specialties.
