TUESDAY, June 27. 2000 <br /> <br />(6) <br /> <br />(7) <br /> <br />BE IT <br /> <br />Commonwealth to offer meals at concession prices to elderly, infirm, blind, handicapped or <br />needy persons in their homes or at central locations. <br /> <br />Food and beverages sold on an occasional basis, (not exceeding __ times per calendar year), <br />by a non-profit educational, charitable or benevolent organization, church, or religious body <br />as a fundraising activity, the gross proceeds of which are to be used by such organization <br />exclusively for non-profit educational, charitable, benevolent or religious purposes. <br /> <br />Food and beverages sold through vending machines. <br /> <br />FURTHER ORDAINED that this ordinance will be in full force and effect on and after July 1, <br /> <br />2000. <br /> <br />Next, Council considered Staff Reports. Wade Bartlett, Finance Director, addressed Council and summar- <br />ized the City' s Financial Report for the period ending May 31, 2000. In addition, Mr. Bartlett stated that the <br />City's investments remain stable. In another matter, Tony Rinaldi, Leisure Services and Facilities Admini- <br />strator, reported on an event called Bike South 2000. Bicyclists will be participating in a ride through <br />various parts of the region and will be passing through the City on July 2, 2000. Various City departments <br />have assisted in coordination of the event and making accommodations for participants. <br /> <br />Next, Council considered the Consent Agenda with the following items: (1) Council considered setting a <br />Public Heating for July 11, 2000 on a request ~:om Elliot and Conhie Stone for a Special Use Permit to allow <br />operation of a retail florist and gift shop at 301 Starling Avenue. Council approved upon motion duly seconded, <br />with all members voting: Vote 5-0; Yeas (5)- Crabtree, Teague, Dallas, Haskell, and Roop; Nays (0)-; Absent <br />(0), to set the Public Hearing. (2) The request to set a Public Hearing on a proposed amendment to Section <br />VI--General Sign Regulations, Paragraph C--Permitted Signs and Paragraph N--Permitted Signs in Districts <br />of the City' s Zoning Ordinance was withdrawn. <br /> <br /> <br />
