June 13,2000 A regular, semi-monthly meeting Enclosure #1 of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, was held on June 13, 2000, in Council Chamber of the Municipal Building, beginning at 6:00 P. M., with Mayor Mark Crabtree presiding. Council Members present included: Mark A. Crabtree, Mayor; M. Gene Teague, Vice Mayor; and Council Members Bruce H. T. Dallas, Elizabeth H. Haskell, and Terry L. Roop. Council considered the need to meet in Closed Session. In accordance with Section 2.1-344 (A) of the Code of Virginia (1950, and as amended) and upon motion by Vice Mayor Teague, duly seconded, and by unanimous recorded vote, Council convened in Closed Session, for the purpose of discussing the following matters: A. Consultation with legal counsel pertaining to actual litigation, as authorized in Subsection 7. At the conclusion of this Closed Session, each member of Council certified that (1) only public business matters exempt from open meeting requirements were discussed in said Closed Session; and (2) only those business matters identified in the motion convening the Closed Session were heard, discussed, or considered during said Session. Upon return to Open Session, Council took no action. Following the invocation, Mayor Crabtree welcomed everyone to the meeting. Council Member Dallas moved to approve, as presented, the Minutes of the May 22, 2000, and May 23; 2000, meetings, and, as amended, the Minutes of the May 18, 2000, and May 25, 2000, meetings; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Haskell, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None.
