May 9, 2000 <br /> <br /> A regular, semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, was held on May 9, 2000, in Council Chamber of the Municipal Building, <br />beginning at 7:03 P. M., with Mayor Mark Crabtree presiding. Council Members present <br />included: Mark A. Crabtree, Mayor; M. Gene Teague, Vice Mayor; and Council <br />Members Bruce H. T. Dallas, Elizabeth H. Haskell, and Terry L. Roop. <br /> <br /> Following the invocation by Council Member Dallas, Mayor Crabtree welcomed <br /> everyone to the, meeting. Council Member Haskell introduced her brother and sister-in- <br /> law visiting from the State of Washington. <br /> <br /> Council Member Dallas moved to approve, as presented, the Minutes of the April <br /> 25, 2000, meeting; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with <br /> all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Haskell, Roop, Teague; <br /> Nays (0) - None. <br /> <br /> Council considered business from the floor. Council Member Haskell, stated, "1 <br /> offer warm congratulations to Council Member Dallas and Vice Mayor Teague on their <br /> re-elections and to Ron Ferrill on his election to City Council." Mayor Crabtree stated, "1 <br /> commend all candidates. They conducted themselves in fine spirit and manner." <br /> Nancy Carter, of 1112 Cherokee Trail, stated, "1 would like to donate a Martinsville- <br /> Henry County commemorative throw [woven blanket] to the City in honor of City <br /> Council. Also, congratulations to Bruce Dallas, Gene Teague, and Ron Ferrill. The <br /> campaign gave me great new insight to an awesome job that each of you do." <br /> <br /> Council considered adoption of a Resolution authorizing the City Manager to <br /> execute a Deed conveying several parcels of City-owned real property to the <br /> Martinsville Housing and Redevelopment Authority. Council Member Dallas moved to <br /> <br /> <br />
