May 25, 2000 <br /> <br /> Renee Wyatt, Public Information Officer, stated, "We're currently working on <br />brochures. We're working with Hartman & Associates. We've got a lot of options but <br />probably can't do everything during the first year." Council Member Haskell asked, <br />"What can Council do to facilitate better communications?"- Mrs. Wyatt replied, <br />"Continued support." City Manager Reynolds-stated, '~/e may return to quarterly <br />reports from all departments to reflect their activities." <br /> <br /> City Manager Reynolds stated, "We need to start our health insurance program <br />sign-up on June 6, 2000. There is a proposed increase from $165 to $185 paid by the <br />City." Council decided by general consensus, with no vote taken, to support this <br />proposal. <br /> <br /> Frank Greenwalt, General District Court Judge, stated, "We have a serious, <br />chronic problem in the Clerk's Office. There are space and security issues. The staff <br />members are stumbling all over each other. The quarters are not adequate for the <br />work. We're eligible for three new computers and laser pdnters from the Supreme <br />Court but have no space to put them." City Manager Reynolds stated, 'TII be meeting <br />with Judge Greenwalt, the Chief of Police, and the Commissioner of the Revenue for a <br />possible solution." <br /> <br /> Michael Rogers, Police Chief, stated, "Fifty-four officers have responded to <br />approximately 25,000 calls for service. We also help with various events and speak to <br />church and civic groups. I've desolved the street crimes division, which increased patrol <br />from six to eight officers per shift. I've also transferred corporals to investigations, <br />increasing that unit from four to six officers. We've also strengthened a working <br />relationship with the Sheriff's Department.
