§ 14-5 MARTINSVILLE CODE <br /> <br />Sec. 14-5. Distinctive uniform. <br /> <br /> The chief of police shall cause to be designed, and with the approval of the city manager, <br />shall adopt a distinctive uniform with appropriate insignia for the use of the police officer of <br />the city police department. Such uniform, when adopted, shall be worn by all such police <br />officers assigned to the uniform division and other such officers when appropriate, while on <br />regularly scheduled duty and at such other times as the chief may designate. <br />(Ord. No. 86-11, 11-25-86) <br /> <br />Sec. 14-6. Wearing of same or similar uniforms by other than police officers. <br /> <br /> (a) When an official uniform has been adopted by the chief of police, no prison guard, <br />correctional officer, security guard, conservator of the peace, special policeman, private detec- <br />rive, or other person in the city, shall wear any uniform identical with such official uniform or <br />so similar in appearance as to be likely to deceive the casual observer. <br /> <br /> (b) Violation of this section shall constitute a Class 1 misdemeanor. <br />(Ord.
