ANIMALS AND FOWL <br /> <br />§ 5-57 <br /> <br /> (b) The city treasurer shall only have the authority to license dogs of resident owners or <br />custodians who reside within the boundary'limits of the city, and he may require information <br />to this effect from any applicant. <br /> <br /> (c) Adog license shall consist ofalicense receipt and a metal tag. The tag shall be stamped <br />or otherwise permanently marked to show the license was issued by the city, the sex of the dog, <br />the calendar year for which it was issued, and it shall bear a serial number. <br /> <br /> (d) Upon receipt of a proper application, certificate of vaccination, and required license <br />taxes, the treasurer shall issue a license receipt for the amount paid on which he shall record <br />the name and address of the owner or custodian, the date of payment, the year for which <br />issued, and serial number of the tag, whether male, female, unsexed dog, and he shall deliver <br />the metal license tags or plates to the owner or custodian. <br /> <br /> (e) The information received by the treasurer from the applicant shall be retained by the <br />treasurer, open to public inspection, during the period for which the license is valid. <br /> <br /> (D It shall be -nl awful for any person to make any false statement in order to secure a dog <br />license to which he is not entitled. <br />(Ord. License tax imposed. <br /> <br /> (a) An animal license tax is hereby imposed on the ownership of dogs required .to be <br />licensed under this division in the following amounts. <br /> <br /> (1) For male and female dogs: Ten dollars ($10.00). <br /> <br /> (2) For unsexed dogs: Three dollars ($3.0'0). <br /> <br /> (b) No license tax shall be levied on any dog that is trained and serves as a guide dog for <br />a blind person, that is. trained and serves as a hearing dog for a deaf or hearing impaired <br />person or that is trained and serves as a service dog for a mobility-impaired person. <br /> <br /> As used in this sectioi~, ~hearing dog" means a dog trained to alert its owner by touch to <br />sounds of danger and sounds to which the owner should respond and "service dog" means a dog <br />trained to accompany its owner for the purpose of carrying items, retrieving objects, pulling a <br />wheelchair or other such actiw'ties of service or support. <br /> <br /> (c) All dog license taxes collected shall go in the general fund of the city. <br />(Ord.
