March 28, 2000 <br /> <br /> A regular, semi-monthly meeting and the quarterly town meeting of the Council of <br />the City of Martinsville, Virginia, were held on March 28, 2000, in the Fellowship Hall of <br />Fuller Memorial Baptist Church, beginning at 7:02 P. M., with Mayor Mark Crabtree <br />presiding. Council Members present included: Mark A. Crabtree, Mayor; M. Gene <br />Teague, Vice Mayor; and Council Members Bruce H. T. Dallas, Elizabeth H. Haskell, <br />and Terry L. Roop. <br /> <br /> Following the invocation by Council Member Roop, Mayor Crabtree welcomed <br />everyone to the meeting. Council Member Haskell announced that Jack Dalton, <br />Chairman of the Henry County Board of Supervisors, is a patient at Wake Forest <br />University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. By general <br />consensus, Council agreed to send flowers and best wishes. <br /> <br /> Council Member Dallas moved to approve, as presented, the Minutes of the <br />March 9, 2000, and March 14, 2000, meetings; the motion was duly seconded and <br /> <br />carried by the following vote, with all members voting: <br />Dallas, Haskell, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None. <br /> <br />Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, <br /> <br />Mayor Crabtree stated, "Tonight, we thank citizen volunteers who have helped <br /> <br />the City run smoother by serving on Boards and Commissions." Council recognized the <br /> <br />following for service on Boards/Commissions: <br /> <br />Transportation Safety Commission - Ralph E. Shank, Jr., 1999- <br /> 2000; Johnathan B. Phillips, 1998-1999; Debbie Judkins, 1998- <br /> 2000; Thomas W. Webster, 1998-1999; and La Nita Hodge, <br /> 1998-1999. <br />Anchor Group Home System Commission - Mark Stan~eld, 1997- <br /> 1999. <br />Clean Community Board of Martinsville-Henry County - Edie S. <br /> Reed, 1998-1999. <br />Southern Area A.aencv on A.~in.a - Robert J. McLachlan, 1994- <br /> 2000. <br /> <br /> <br />
