The <br />monthly Rehab Board meetings are open to the public." Vice Mayor Teague asked, <br />"I've had concerns addressed about the curb and gutter stakes." Mr. Knox replied, <br />"There are two sets of stakes~ne is the right-of-way, and the other is the actual street <br />boundary." City Manager Reynolds added, "One of the advantages of using City crews <br />is that they are able to customize solutions with curb and gutter issues." Thelma <br />Pinkard, of 208 Park Street, stated, "The Southside residents deserve the grant. They <br />worked hard and should stay focused and positive." Vice Mayor Teague moved to <br />establish a budget of $271,400 for the Southside Community Improvement Project and <br />appropriate same to various line items in the CDBG Fund for FY1999-2000; the motion <br />was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - <br />0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Haskell, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None. <br /> <br /> Council conducted a Public Hearing on the use of $32,826 in block grant funds <br />from the U. S. Department of Justice to be used by the Police Department. Michael <br />Rogers, Chief of Police, stated, "We are very fortunate to get this grant. I plan to use it <br />to fund the following: computerized polygraph/tuition, forensic evidence drying cabinet, <br />recruitment display board, TVNCR, recruitment brochure publication, firearms for the <br />Emergency Response Team, specialized training/overtime expenses, micro-cassette <br />recorders, and police vehicle decals. The grant total is $36,473 with a ten percent <br />match of $3,647, which is in the Police Department's FY1999-2000 budget." Mayor <br />Crabtree declared the Public Hearing open.
