The Legislative Package was given to local Delegates and <br />to State Representatives on January 22, 2000. We've made direct <br />contacts in Richmond." <br /> <br />"Foundations are in place including enterprise zones, Clearview <br />Business Park, shell-buildings, Rives Road site, Fiber Optic Sonet <br />Loop, technology investment in schools, Martinsville Middle School, <br />Albert Harris Intermediate School, and quality of life." <br /> <br />"Completed job creation efforts include the Clearview ground <br />breaking, Water Campaign, Job Fair, and updated Enterprise Zone <br />Ordinance. New initiatives include free land, Job Fair II in March or <br />April, technology zones, and Uptown business incubator." <br /> <br />"The first Water Campaign postcard will be mailed on February 9, <br />2000, to 400 identified companies in the eastern U. S. that require <br />high water capacity and skilled workers. The Campaign should be <br />completed in April." <br /> <br />"The Job Fair attracted 62 employer participants and over 1,200 <br />citizens. Over 100 jobs are committed to date, and the employer <br />screening process continues." <br /> <br />"The City of Martinsville is committed to overcoming the obstacle <br />we have before us, by attracting jobs that will secure a bright <br />economic future for all citizens." <br /> <br />Council Member Haskell stated, "1 was impressed with quotes from out-of-town <br /> <br />employers on our 'quality workforce'.
