January 25, 2000 <br /> <br /> The Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, convened for a special called <br />meeting as the Martinsville Redevelopment and Housing Authority on January 25, 2000, <br />in Council Chamber of the Municipal Building, beginning at 6:45 P. M., with Chairman <br />Mark Crabtree presiding. Authority Members present included: Mark A. Crabtree, <br />Chairman; M. Gene Teague, Vice Chairman; and Authority Members Bruce H. T. <br />Dallas, Elizabeth H. Haskell, and Terry L. Roop. <br /> <br /> The Authority considered the need to meet in Closed Session. In accordance <br />with Section 2.1-344 (A) of the Code of Vir.qinia (1950, and as amended) and upon <br />motion by Authority Vice Chairman Teague, duly seconded, and by unanimous <br />recorded vote, the Authority convened in Closed Session, for the purpose of discussing <br />the following matter: <br /> <br /> A. Possible disposition of publicly-held real property, as authorized by <br /> Subsection 3. <br /> <br /> At the conclusion of this Closed Session, each member of the Authority certified <br />that (1) only public business matters exempt from open meeting requirements were <br />discussed in said Closed Session; and (2) only those business matters identified in the <br />motion convening the Closed Session were heard, discussed, or considered during said <br /> <br />Session. <br /> <br />Vice Chairman Teague moved to authorize Administration to offer 50 <br />acres of the Rives Road Industrial Park rail served land to any industry <br />that will commit to 300 new jobs and a 30 million dollar investment. <br />Administration is further authorized to communicate this new incentive <br />to the Patrick Henry Development Council (PHDC), Virginia Economic <br />Development Partnership (VEDP), and state/national commercial <br />industrial real estate firms. Also, it is recommended to the Martinsville <br />Industrial Development Authority to also offer a proportional incentive <br />on the Clearview Business Park shell-building site. The motion was <br />duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members <br /> <br /> <br />
