AGENDA <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />CITY OF MARTINSVILLE, VIRGINIA <br /> <br />City Council Chamber- Municipal Building <br />7:00 P.M. -Tuesday, April 25, 2000 <br /> <br />Invocation - Vice-Mayor M. Gene Teague <br /> <br />I. Consider approval of the minutes of City Council's meeting of April <br /> 11, 2000. (See Enclosure #1) <br /> <br /> II. <br /> <br />III. <br /> <br />Business from the floor. <br /> <br />Consider adoption of a Resolution authorizing the City Administra- <br />tion to file an application with the Virginia Department of Historic <br />Resources to complete and extend an architectural historic survey <br />of the East Church/Scuffle Hill/Starling Avenue neighborhood and <br />portions of the Oakdale/Thomas Heights/Mulberry Road/Rives <br />Road and adjoining streets neighborhood. (See Enclosure #2) <br /> <br />COMI~IENTS: The purpose of the grant application will be to sur- <br />vey the historical significance of the residences therein. A similar <br />survey was conducted in 1997 for the East Church/Starling Ave- <br />nue area. This grant application seeks to build upon those efforts <br />and extend them into the surrounding neighborhoods. This re- <br />quest is being initiated by many property owners in these neigh- <br />borhoods. The grant application with DHR is a 50% cost-share <br />agreement with Virginia localities. Residents in the .proposed sur- <br />vey area/neighborhood have committed in sharing a portion of the <br />City's local match. The total grant request will be $25,000, with ' <br />the City's share being $12,500. The application deadline is May 1. <br /> <br />IV. STAFF REPORT: <br /> <br />A. Financial Report for month ending March 31, 2000. <br /> (See Enclosure #3) <br /> <br />Consider setting work sessions for Council to 'review the City's <br />Proposed Budget for Fiscal Year 2000-2001. (See Enclosure #4) <br /> <br /> <br />
