2t ' <br /> <br />September 14, 1999 <br /> <br /> A regular, semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, was held on September 14, 1999, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning <br />at 7:04 P. M., with Mayor Mark Crabtree presiding. Council Members present included: <br />Mark A. Crabtree, Mayor; M. Gene Teague, Vice Mayor; and Council Members Bruce <br />H. T. Dallas, Elizabeth H. Haskell, and Terry L. Roop. <br /> <br /> Following delivery of the invocation by Coundl Member Roop, Mayor Crabtree <br />welcomed everyone to the meeting. <br /> <br /> Council Member Dallas moved to approve, as presented, the Minutes of the May <br />24, 1999, June 3, 1999, August 10, 1999, and August 24, 1999, meetings, and, as <br />amended, the Minutes of the May 25, 1999, and July 27, 1999, meetings; the motion <br />was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - <br />0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Haskell, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None; Absent (0) - <br />None. <br /> <br /> The Martinsville Astros, represented by Carper Cole, were recognized for <br /> winning both the regular season and championship tournament. <br /> <br /> Council considered a presentation by John Lambert & Associates regarding <br /> marketing. City Manager Earl B. Reynolds, Jr., stated, "As discussed previously in <br /> strategic planning meetings, .,we-want to ensure that MadinSville is recognized statewide <br /> and nationally. The purpose of this project was to create a symbol of the essence of <br /> what our City is." .(:;i!y Manager Reynolds and Mayor Crabtree then unveiled the new <br /> City symbol and introduced John Lambert. Mr. Lambert stated, "This symbol depicts <br /> the dynamic energy and spirit that makes Martinsville unique with resources and means <br /> to reach its potential.
