positive future for Martinsville and Henry County, the <br />Commonwealth of Virginia and the United States; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Coundl of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, in regular session assembled December 14, 1999, that <br />1. The Council appoints a CENSUS COMPLETE COUNT <br />COMMITTEE consisting of co--chairperson Renee Wyatt, the <br />City's Public Information Officer; Nancy Bell with Martinsville <br />City Schools; Frank I. Richardson from an industry; and Dr. <br />James E. Rountree, Sr., from a non-profit organization to act <br />in tandem with a co-chairperson and three other appointees <br />by the Henry County Board of Supervisors; and <br />2. The CENSUS COMPLETE COUNT COMMITTEE shall be <br /> charged with working with the Census Bureau and its <br /> representatives in promoting Census 2000 to all City of <br /> Martinsville and Henry County residents; and <br />3. The CENSUS COMPLETE COUNT COMMITTEE will <br /> encourage every resident to accurately complete the Census <br /> questionnaire and promptly return it by mail; and <br />4. That April 1, 2000, be designated CENSUS DAY in the City <br /> of Martinsville. <br /> <br />Mr. Knox presented the Housing Rehabilitation Program Design for the <br /> <br />Southside Comprehensive Community Development Project and stated, "This plan can <br /> <br />be revised. Our goal is to rehab 33 homes. We've already received about ten <br /> <br />applications with verification." Vice Mayor Teague moved to authorize the City Manager <br /> <br />to execute the Housing Rehabilitation Program Design and appoint Council Member <br /> <br />Haskell, Phyllis Karavatakis, City Manager Reynolds, Brenda Manns, Elizabeth Martin, <br /> <br />Mrs. Pinkard, Lucille Thompson, and Clyde Williams to the Southside CDBG Housing <br /> <br />Rehab Board; the motion was duly seconded and carded by the following vote, with all <br /> <br />members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Haskell, Roop, Teague; Nays <br /> <br />(0) - None. <br /> <br />Council considered approving the Consent Agenda. Council Member Roop <br /> <br />moved to approve the following Consent Agenda item; the motion was duly seconded <br /> <br /> <br />
