REYNOLDS, JR. <br />City Manager <br /> <br />RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Joel M. Amos has served as the Resident Engineer for the Virginia <br />Department of Transportation serving the Counties of Henry and Patrick, the Towns of <br />Smart and Ridgeway, and the City of Martinsville since July 1, 1974; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, during this time our community has experienced significant growth and <br />change which has necessitated many changes and improvements in our local <br />transportation system; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, during this'time, the assistance and guidance provided by Joel M. Amos in <br />helping to plan, schedule, and construct many of the street and highway improvements in <br />our area has been invaluable and has led to a much safer and more efficient local <br />transportation network; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Joel M. Amos has announced his retirement fi'om the Virginia Department <br />of Transportation in December 1999, after 25 years of service to our community; now, <br />therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, assembled in <br />regular session this the 14th day of December 1999, that said Council wishes to recognize <br />and express its sincere gratitude and appreciation to Joel M. Amos, Resident Engineer for <br />the Virginia Department of Transportation, for his work and efforts in maldn% our <br />community a better and safer place to live and work through the many transportation <br />improvements completed during his long and productive career. <br /> <br />Attest: <br /> <br />Johnathan B.
