TUESDAY, JUNE 8, 1999 <br /> A regular, semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br /> <br />with Mayor Mark A. Crabtree presiding, was held Tuesday, June 8, 1999, in the Council <br />Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:00 P.M. The following members of Council were present: <br />Mark A. Crabtree, Mayor, M. Gene Teague, Vice Mayor, and Council Members Bruce H.T. <br />Dallas, Elizabeth H. Haskell and Terry L. Roop. <br /> <br /> Following delivery of the Invocation by Vice-Mayor Teague the Mayor extended a <br />cordial welcome to all in attendance. <br /> <br />Council first considered Business from the Floor. There was none. <br /> <br />Council next considered the need to conduct a Public Hearing for the purpose of <br />receiving/interviewing citizens interested in serving on the Martinsville School Board. Mayor <br />Crabtree opened the Public Hearing and current School Board member Benny Gray came <br />forward to express his desire to be reappointed to the School Board. Mayor Crabtree then made <br />note of the fact that current School Board member Charles Davies had expressed a desire to be <br />reappointed as well. No other candidates for the School Board came forward or were mentioned, <br />and the Public Hearing was closed. <br /> <br /> Council next considered the need to conduct a Public Hearing and consider approval, <br />upon first reading, of Ordinance No. 99-5 establishing the City' s Budget and Tax Rates for <br /> <br /> <br />
