AGENDA <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />CITY OF MARTINSVILLE, VIRGINIA <br /> <br />City Council Chamber - Municipal Building <br /> 7:00 P.M. - July 27, 1999 <br /> <br />III. <br /> <br />Invocation - Mayor Mark A. Crabtree <br /> <br />Business from the floor. <br /> <br />Consider adoption of a Resolution requesting twenty-five percent <br />reimbursement to the City from the State Board of Corrections upon <br />construction of a new jail facility in the City. (See Enclosure # 1) <br /> <br />COMMENTS: A Resolution was previously passed on February 25, <br />1997. This is to revise said Resolution to reflect a change in the size <br />and scope of the facility from a 208 bed facility to a 160 bed facility. <br />Also, we need to incorporate language in the Resolution to acknow- <br />ledge the fact that the City constructed an addition to the jail in 1997. <br /> <br />Consider adoption of a Resolution approving Virginia Department of <br />Transportation's Liberty/Clearview road improvements plan as <br />presented at Location and Design Public Hearing on May 4t~. (See <br />Enclosure # 2) <br /> <br />COMMENTS: The attached letter was sent to the local VDOT office <br />approving the plan; however, we have been advised that a formal <br />Resolution is required. We recommend that Counc~ adopt this <br />Resolution as prepared. <br /> <br />Consider a presentation by Sherry Ramsey, Executive Director, <br />Patrick Henry Development Counc~ of the 1998-99 Annual Report and <br />the 1999-2000 Marketing Report. <br /> <br />CONSENT AGENDA: <br /> <br />Set a public hearing required for transfer of ownership of Parcel <br />I in the Clearview Business Park from the City of Martinsville to <br />the Martinsville Industrial Development Authority. <br /> <br />COMMENTS: The City is in the process of finalizing nego- <br />tiations with the Virginia Economic Development Partnership <br />and the V~rgini a Retirement System for the t~n ancing and <br />construction of a 50,000 square foot shell building. The building <br />will be owned by the IDA, therefore the title to the land must be <br /> <br /> <br />
