WEDNESDAY, APRIL 13, 1988

At the conclusion of these presentations, members of Council discussed various
aspects of the foregoing agency requests as well as expressed concern with a
reported adverse effect upon the City's 1988-89 budget through and/or because
of a recent ruling by the State Superintendent of Public Instruction. In
addition, Council indicated general approval of these requests with the
exceptions of items (foregoing list) Nos. 4, 6, 10, 11, 17, 18, 19, and 20
which Council agreed to consider further. Meanwhile, Councilman McClain
expressed his opposition to any contributions by and from the City to any
private agencies as well as his opinion that the City should discontinue
contributing funds to the Virginia Museum of Natural History (inasmuch as this
agency is now State-funded and is the official State Museum of Natural
History).

Mayor Oakes then declared this meeting adjourned.

W-'~C~erk of Council
