WEDNESDAY, APRIL 13, 1988 <br /> <br />A special and duly-called meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, with Mayor L. D. Oakes presiding, was held Wednesday, April 13, 1988, <br />in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 2:00 P.M., for the purpose of <br />discussing with representatives of various agencies (public and private, to <br />which the City has contributed or is being asked to contribute funds for the <br />fiscal year beginning July 1, 1988) their respective budget requests of the <br />City for the 1988-89 fiscal year as well as the budget request of one <br />constitutional office (viz., City Treasurer), all of which requests City <br />Manager Brown included in his proposed 1988'89 City Budget. All members of <br />Council were present, viz., L. D. Oakes, Mayor; Clyde L. Williams, Vice-Mayor; <br />William C. Cole, Jr.; Alfred T. Groden; and Allan McClain. <br /> <br />After the stating by Mayor Oakes of 'the purpose of this special meeting, <br />Council received presentations from the following representatives of the <br />following agencies and/or departments: <br /> <br /> 1. Probation Section of the Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court <br /> (Mr. Jan C. Reed, Director, Juvenile Court Service Unit). <br /> <br /> 2. West Piedmont Planning District Commission (Mr. Robert W. <br /> Dowd, Executive Director). <br /> <br /> 3. The Anchor House and Anchor Administration (Mr. Curtis Nolan, <br /> Administrator, and Mr. William F. Stone, Jr., member of <br /> Anchor Commission). <br /> <br /> 4. Department of Social Services (Mrs. Pat Conrad, Director, and <br /> Mr. '~ike" Burton, Office Manager). <br /> <br /> 5. Henry-Martinsville Health Department (Dr. Elizabeth Roycroft, <br /> Director, and Mr. Earl Jones, Administrator). <br /> <br /> 6. Piedmont Regional Community Services Board (Mr. Ottis Birge, <br /> Director). <br /> <br /> 7. Citizens Against Family Violence (Mrs. Amanda Weese, Director). <br /> <br /> <br />
