MONDAY, JULY 2 , 1990 <br /> <br />-direction and allowingme to serve as Mayor for the.past <br />4 years. It has been a tremendous honor. I have enjoyed <br />it very much and am very proud to have served.as Mayor. <br /> <br />I.am extremely proud of.this Council and Administration <br />for the major accomplishments during the past 4 years. <br />TO name a few: ~.. <br /> <br />, <br /> <br /> , <br /> <br /> Liberty Fair Mall and other Commercial <br /> development <br />Blue Ridge Nursing Home <br /> Road improvements - Spruce, Market, Fayette <br /> Improved working relationship with Henry County <br /> Planning process for the next 5 years <br /> - Jails, solid waste and emergency services <br /> <br /> I have spent a lot of time and effort into trying to be <br /> a good Mayor and represent the city properly. I now feel <br />-';-l-that I.should spend more time withmy family.-~ Ialso <br /> think it is time to allow another Council Member to have <br /> =the~ opportunity to serve as Mayor..and provide new <br /> direction and leadership for the city. <br /> <br /> I appreciate the cooperative spirit and team effort <br /> demonstrated between the Council, Administration, and <br /> School Board as we plan for the future. <br /> <br />Therefore, I would now like to nominate Councilman Mr. <br />Allan McClain to be your next mayor =~.. <br /> <br />This nomination was seconded by Councilman Groden and carried by <br /> <br />unanimous vote. Mr. Pritchett then administered the oath of office <br /> <br />to Mayor McClain. <br /> <br />Mayor McClain then nominated Councilman Groden for the position of <br />Vice-Mayor. This nomination was seconded by Councilman Williams <br />and carried by unanimous vote. Mr. Pritchett then administered <br />the oath of office to Vice-Mayor Groden. <br /> <br />In accordance with Section 2.1-344(A) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA <br /> <br /> <br />
