TJESDAY. MAY 8.19,90 <br /> Mayor Oakes stated that Council is concerned with the problems of <br /> drugs:~and crime in the community (especially violent crime) and <br /> asked Mr. Brown what Council needed to do to address these problems <br /> I inI~ a more effective manner. Mr. Brown suggested that Council <br />I~ withhold any action of adding an arbitrary number of police <br />~.I officers to the force for the present time, as evaluation of the <br />= problem ,is ongoing and recommendations will be forthcoming. <br /> Councilman Groden stated that he had heard a number of citizens <br />· voice complaints about low levels of police patrols incertain <br />=I.= areas o~,the City. Mr. Brown assured Councilthat.a report would <br />= be givento it~in the near future. Uponmotion,!duly seconded and <br /> by unanimous vote, Council expressed its willingness to make a <br /> supplemental appropriation during the upcoming Fiscal Year to <br /> ~ address the problems related to drugs =~and crime ,after City <br />· Administration completes its recommendations on the matter. <br /> <br /> Council directed the City=Manager to schedule its next efficiency <br /> review for the Finance Department, such review-to include a tour <br /> of the computer room. <br /> <br /> Mayor Oakes then declared this meeting adjourned ,~ ~ <br /> <br /> Lance G.
