Mr. ttaskins asked Council for support of his request,
noting that additional information would be forthcoming during the public
hearing as to the need for this type of Day Care Center,

In response to a request from Council, Mr. Michael Mick, local Manager of
Adelphia Cable Communications, appeared before Council to explain their end of
fiscal year financial report which was previously given to Council. Mr. Mick
explained that he had been in the Martinsville area for three months, replacing
William Woolf who moved to Charlottesville. He stated that his main goal was
customer service, that he wanted to eliminate any reasons for complaints from
the customers, that if there were complaints he wanted the subscriber to call
him and know that appropriate action would be taken, he wants them to have
confidence in the company. He noted that service calls are made 24 hours a day
and at present there is no backlog of service calls. As a result of
discussions regarding the financial statements related to the Company's
operations in Martinsville, Council requested Mr. Mick to come back October 24
with a more detailed financial report of the cable system as it relates to
Martinsville with specific information related to the manner in which the
company collects and computes the 5% Franchise Fee paid to the City. Mr. Mick
agreed to review this matter and clarify this report with Council during
Council's October 24, 1989, meeting.

Mr. J. Ronnie Minter, Commissioner of the Revenue, presented a .report on the
1989 Personal Property Tax Revenue projections, noting that it reflects an
.increase in revenue of $132,327, which is a 7.5% increase over 1988 revenue.
