TUESDAY, JUNE 13, 1989 <br /> <br />unanimously carried by a recorded vote, Council convened into an Executive <br />Session for the purpose of considering nominees for appointment or <br />reappointment to membership on various boards and commissions for terms <br />beginning July 1, 1989. At the conclusion of this Executive Session, Council <br />reconvened into regular session and unanimously made the following appointments <br />and/or reappointments to the following agency boards for the following terms <br />beginning July 1, 1989: <br /> <br />SOCIAL SERVICES AII~INISTRATIVE BOARD (Four-Year Terms) <br /> REAPPOINTEES <br /> <br /> Mrs. Robert E. (Wanda S.) Rider; and <br /> Mr. Ralph J. Pruitt. <br /> <br />BLUE RIDGE REGIONAL LIBRARY BOARD (Four-Year Terms) <br /> APPOINTEES' <br /> <br /> Mrs. J. Ronald (Patricia J.) Austin; and <br /> Mrs. Robert W. (Martha H.) Sherwood. <br /> <br />PIER~ONT REGIONAL CCMMUNITY SERVICES BOARD (Three-Year Term) <br /> <br /> APPOINTEE <br /> <br /> Dr. Joanne B. Whitley <br /> <br />Council was apprised of a recent ruling by the Virginia Supreme Court, on <br />appeal from Martinsville City Circuit Court, in the case of City of <br />Martinsville v. Tultex Corporation, et al, in favor of Tultex Corporation, et <br />al, whereby computer equipment leased by Tultex Corporation from BameriLease <br />(involving the tax years 1982, 1983, and 1984) was erroneously assessed for <br />local taxation as tangible personal property when such leased equipment should <br />have been classified as capital, taxable only by the Commonwealth of Virginia. <br /> <br /> <br />
