TUESDAY, MAY 9, 1989 <br /> <br />the City's corporate limits) as being a State project, indicated that the <br />matter could.be further pursued with the State Highway Department if Council so <br />asks. Mr. Brown pointed out, too, that the highway department complied with <br />all requirements.pertaining to public hearings conducted prior to project <br />construction. Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council <br />directed Mr. Brown to relay the citizens' concerns in this matter to the <br />highway department and, in so doing, ask for a solution thereto. <br /> <br />As requested by Council at its April 25th meeting, City Manager Brown presented <br />a written policy. statement which, if adopted, will allow the City to extend its <br />water and sewer lines, at City expense, into privately-owned properties being <br />developed for multi-family housing. After some discussion of the proposed <br />policy statement, COuncil unanimously adopted the stated policy to be in effect <br />on a trial basis for a period of one year from May 9, 1989. This statement is <br />recorded herein as an addendum to these minutes. <br /> <br />Also, as requested by Council at its April 25th regular meeting, with reference <br />to ways and means of purchasing/installing a traffic signal at Market and <br />Bridge Streets, City Manager Brown reported that a study of funding sources <br />reveals that funds in the amount of $12,000.00, initially designated in the <br />forthcoming 1989-90'City Budget for a traffic signal installation at <br />Commonwealth Boulevard and Market Street, can be redesignated or reallocated <br />for such an installation at Market and Bridge Streets (estimated to cost <br />$12,000.00)~ inasmuch as the developers of Liberty Fair Mall have more recently <br />agreed to pay for materials and equipment to signalize the Commonwealth/Market <br />intersection in conjunction with the continuing development of the Liberty Fair <br />Mall and/or adjacent areas.
