THURSDAY, APRIL 20, 1989 <br /> <br />In compliance with the provisions of subsection A. 1 of Section 2.1-344 of the <br />CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended), and upon motion, duly seconded and <br />unanimously carried by a recorded vote, Council convened into an Executive <br />Session for the purpose of considering a personnel matter. At the conclusion <br />of the Executive Session, Council reconvened into regular session but took no <br />action on the matter considered in Executive Session. <br /> <br />Council then tentatively adopted a budget for 1989-90, predicated on City <br />Manager Brown's recommended budget and reflecting amendments thereto, as <br />tentatively made during Council's several prior budget worksessions and during <br />the meeting herein covered by these minutes. <br /> <br />Mayor Oakes then declared this meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />W. Groden, who will not be present at <br /> Council's next regular meeting when minutes of Council's last four meetings <br /> will be on the agenda for correction and/or approval, the vote on Item 22, <br />pages 492 and 493 of the minutes of Council's special budget worksession held <br /> April 7, 1989, should have been recorded as three "for" granting the full <br /> request of $5,000 filed by the Piedmont Arts Association and two for "halving" <br /> the.request to $2,500.00 instead two for the full amount and three for <br />· "halving" the request. Also, at the request of Councilman Groden, his state- <br /> ments regarding the proposed downtown hotel project, as recorded on page 6 of <br /> the minutes of Council's regular meeting held April 11, 1989, being the <br /> sentence beginning on line 8 and ending on line 11, should have been recorded <br /> <br /> <br />
