Council' .adopted the following Ordinance: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia <br />in regular session assembled this eleventh day of June, 1991, that <br />the Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, be--and is <br />hereby--amended to the extent that Parcel 2-R previously known as <br />Parcel B located on the northeast side of OneidaStreet, is hereby <br />rezoned from R-9 Residential to R-6 Residential. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council, that, an emergency <br />existing, this Ordinance shall be in force on and after June 12, <br />1991. <br /> <br />Mr. Benjamin Perkins, 207 Holt Street, appeared before Council and asked to <br />beappointed to the Office on Youth Advisory Board. Mr. Perkins reviewed his <br />qualifications ~nd his reasons for seeking appointment to the Board. <br /> <br />Council considered acceptance of a parcel of land located at the intersection <br />of Jackson and Church Streets (known as Jackson Street Park) from Piedmont <br />Trust Bank as Trustee for Irving M. Groves, Jr., Ruth C. Chaney and the <br />children of Whitney Shumate. Mr. Brown explained that the property in <br />question had been used and maintained by the City for use as a park fo~. many <br />years and recommended that Council accept the donation. Upon motion, duly <br />seconded and by unanimous vote, Council accepted the donation and authorized <br />the preparation of a deed. Councilman Oakes asked that a letter of <br />appreciation be written to the donors on behalf of the City. <br /> <br />Council considered approval of a Resolution authorizing the Martinsville- <br />Henry County Clean Community Commission to apply for and administer a grant <br />on behalf of the City. Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, <br />Council adopted the following Resolution: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />recognizes the existence of a litter problem within the boundaries' <br />of the City; and <br /> <br />WHEREASf the Virginia Waste Management Act provides, through the <br />Virginia Department of Waste Management, Division of Litter Control <br /> <br /> <br />
