TUESDAY-. APRIL 9~ 1991 <br /> <br />that~the!City Administration and the School Division calculat.ed~the <br />local costs"-of the School Division in a different manner. I Mr.'Fitts <br /> <br />"net <br />said <br /> <br />that the School Division subtracted revenues generated by the Schools,~such <br />as through the rental of School buses, from the amount listed as revenue <br />needed from the local government. According to the City Administration's <br />method of calculating local costs, the increase in funds from local sources <br /> <br />was 53v6,354. <br /> <br />Mr.= Lamm="preSented albroad overview of the~ School =b~dg~t"~=do~u~en't and <br />responded to numerous questions by members of Council regarding specific <br /> <br />aspects of the budget document. <br /> <br />In response to questions by members of CoUncil, Mr. Lamm stated that no funds <br /> <br />have been included in the School budget for asbestos removal. Mr. 3rown <br />explained that the City had set up an Asbestos Removal Fund from which monies <br /> <br />were being paid for the removal of asbestos at the Schools in anticipation of <br />approval of a Literary Fund Loan which would pay back the City's pooledicash <br />resources for these expenditures. Mr. Lamm said that to date, $324,190 had <br />been spent and that $150,000 would be spent during FY91-92. According to Mr. <br />Lamm,. the total expense for asbestos removal should be much less than the <br />original estimate of $1.5 million. Chairman Carter stated that there existed <br />a backlog of requests for Literary Fund monies and that it could be an <br />extended period of time before funds would be available. Several members of <br />Council asked that the Asbestos Removal Fund be included inthe monthly <br />financial report which is given to Council. <br /> <br />Mr. Lamm stated that the original School budget provided for a 3%i pay <br />increase for School, Division personnel, but that this had been removed by <br />School Board action.
