TUESDAY, APRIL 9, 1991 <br />A regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, with Mayor Allan McClain.presiding, was held Tuesday, April 9, 1991 <br />in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 8:30 A.M. All members of <br />Council were present: Allan McClain, Mayor; Alfred T. Groden, Vice-Mayor; <br />George B. Adams, Jr.; L.D. Oakes; and Clyde L. Williams. <br /> <br />...After the invocation, followed by Mayor McClain's cordial welcome to visitors <br /> <br />present, Council approved the minutes of <br />circulatedandamended. <br /> <br />its March 26, <br /> <br />1991 meeting as <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council authorized the City <br /> Manager to execute a renewal of a parking lot lease agreement with Lucile A. <br /> Weaver for a lot fronting the north side of Main Street adjacent to A.W. <br /> Shucks. The terms and rental amount ($6,600 per year) remained unchanged in <br /> the agreement renewal. The renewal was for a 5-year period. <br /> <br />Council considered endorsement of a Project Priority List for the Regional <br />Overall Economic Development Program. City Manager Brown explained that <br />Council had earlier agreed to join with other local governments in the West <br />Piedmont Planning District to form a Regional Overall Economic Development <br />Program and that each locality had been requested to develop a Projects <br />Priority List for inclusion in the Regional Plan. City staff had developed <br />a proposed list, which under Type 1 (projects which are in the advanced <br />stages of planning or development), listed the following priorities: Smith <br />Lake Road Housing Development Project; Church/Moss Street Community <br />Development Project; Fishel Street Industrial Site; and Commerce Court <br />Industrial Site. Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council <br />endorsed the proposed Project Priority List. <br /> <br /> <br />
