TUESDAY, NOVEMBER l0, 1992 <br /> <br />with the "1995 Highway Functional Classification" for the City of <br />Martinsville as updated by the Virginia Department of Transportation. <br /> <br />Council considered appropriating $1,299.99 received from the U. S. <br />Attorney's Office for seized drug assets to the Police Department's FY <br />92-93 Budget. Chief of Police Terry L. Roop explained that the funds <br />would be used to purchase two cellular telephones and pay the monthly <br />service charges. Chief Roop stated that the telephones would be used <br />by police officers to communicate with citizens who may have <br />information for the officers relating to the investigation of crimes. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged a report on the 1992 United Way Campaign by City <br />employees in which it was noted that the 1992 Campaign had raised <br />$10,090, which was $4,109 more than the 1991 campaign and 160.7% over <br />the goal. Members of Council and the City Manager commended Director <br />of Finance Richard Fitts (who coordinated the campaign) and City <br />employees for their efforts. <br /> <br />The following matters not on the agenda were discussed: (1) Councilman <br />Williams commended the emergency medical services volunteers in the <br />City and County for their excellent work; and (2) Finance Director <br />Fitts introduced Lisa Ernest, newly-hired Budget/Systems Analyst (CPA), <br />who will be working under Mr. Fitts in the areas of Budget and <br />Financial Administration. <br /> <br />In accordance with Section 2.1-344(A) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, <br />and as amended), and upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, <br />Council convened into Executive Session for the purpose of discussing <br />the following: (1) an appointment to the Long-Term Solid Waste <br />Disposal Facility Siting Committee, as authorized by Subsection 1; (2) <br /> <br /> <br />
