182 <br /> <br />TUESDAY, OCTOBER 27, 1992 <br /> <br />sensitive to the problem. Gloria Hylton, 2rid Street, commended the <br />Fire Department for its quick response to improperly parked trucks at <br />the old R. P. Thomas trucking terminal and expressed concern regarding <br />the potential adoption of policies and procedures for Council meetings. <br />Sharla Raines, Park Street, thanked the Police Department for its <br />attention to traffic problems on Park Street. Rev. 5immie Hawkins, 408 <br />Second Street, spoke against the continued use of the old R. P. Thomas <br />trucking terminal by Environmental Transportation Services. <br /> <br />Reynolds stated that he would present an update report on the ETS <br />situation at the next Council meeting. Nick Lawyer, 913 Corn Tassel <br />Trail, spoke against the Martinsville-Henry County Judicial Center <br />project, stating that it would not help business in the downtown area. <br />Mary Trimpey, of Henry County, read a prepared statement and asked for <br />an independent investigation of the recent arrest of Charles Roark, <br />owner of Cable 6. Sue Harris Joyce, of Henry County, spoke in support <br />of Cable 6. <br /> <br />Council heard a presentation from O. Randolph Rollins, Secretary of <br />Public Safety for the Commonwealth, concerning violent crime in <br />Virginia. Mr. Rollins responded to several questions by members of <br />Council and the public regarding the presentation. Mr. Rollins also <br />made a formal presentation of a $29,004 anti-drug grant which was <br />recently received by the Police Department from the Department of <br />Criminal Justice Services. Mr. Rollins also formally presented a <br />$14,734 grant to Henry County, which was accepted by Robert P. Lawler, <br />Jr., Henry County Administrator. Also present for the meeting was <br />Lindsay Dorrier, Director of the Department of Criminal ~Justice <br />Services and Gene Jennings, Chief of the Law Enforcement Division of <br />DCJS.
