VIII.

COMMENTS: We recommend that Council accept and appropriate these funds
asnoted.

Consider donating the City's 1965 American LaFrance fire engine to the Henry
Volunteer Fire Department.

COMMENTS: Due to the age and mechanical condition of this fire engine, it
has been replaced. We recommend that Council donate it to the Hem'y Volunteer
Fire Company.

Consider nominations to the Virginia Municipal League's 1999 Policy Commit-
tees. (See Enclosure #4)

COMMENTS: As you will note, the Public Safety Policy Committee has been
eliminated, thus there are now only five Policy Committees. Following is a list of
our people presently serving on these Committees: Environmental Quality-Gene
Teague; Finance-Elizabeth Haskell, Chair; General Laws-Mark Crabtree; Human
Development-Bruce Dallas; and Transportation-Leon Towamicki.

Consider adoption of the National League of Cities Five-Point Action Agenda.
(See Enclosure #5)

COMMENTS: All NLC member cities have been requested to consider
adoption of the enclosed Five-Point Action Agenda. The Mayor has asked that
Council give favorable consideration to this request.

X. STAFF REPORT:

XI.

A. Financial Report for month ending 3/31/99.
