intersection of Woodrow Street. <br /> <br /> .TUESDAY, DECEMBER 8, 1998 <br />Mr. Wayne Knox, Planning, Zoning and Housing Director, provided <br /> <br />background information on the request. Reverend Joseph Hamilton of the Spring Street Baptist Church was <br />present to elaborate on the Church's request and their intent for the use of the property, stating that a new <br />drain pipe was to be installed on the property to improve drainage on the entire site. Reverend Hamilton also <br />asked that the $700 assessment fee on the property be waived. The Public Hearing was opened and Reverend <br />Hamilton spoke in favor of the requested abandonment of the property in question, to provide for a needed <br />drainage project. No other speakers came forward and the Public Hearing was dosed. Council then voted its <br />approval of the requested abandonment, by the following vote, all members voting: <br />Vote: 5-0 <br />Yeas: (5) Crabtree, Dallas, Haskell, Roop, Teague. <br />Nays: (0) None: <br /> <br /> Council then considered the request for waiver of the $700 assessment fee. Following some <br />discussion Council approved waiver of 70% of the fee by the following vote, all members voting: <br /> <br /> Vote: 4-1 <br /> <br />Yeas: (4) Crabtree, Haskell, Roop, Teague. <br /> <br />Nays: (1) Dallas. <br /> <br />Council next considered adoption of a resolution recognizing the Old Dominion Search and Rescue Team <br />an Emergency Services Agency operating within the City of Martinsville.
