report. <br /> <br />TUESDAY, JUNE 8, 1993 <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council approved, on <br />first reading, Ordinance No. 93-6 amending Chapter 21--Taxation, <br />Article IV--Tax for E911 Emergency Telephone System, Sections 21-51 and <br />21-54 of the City Code. <br /> <br />Council considered adoption of Ordinance No. 93-9 approving the FY 93- <br />94 Budget appropriations and establishing tax rates. Mayor McClain <br />read portions of a letter dated June 2, 1993 from S. Harold Lamm, <br />Superintendent of Schools, in which Mr. Lammreported the School Board <br />voted on June 1, 1993 to grant all instructional personnel a 3% salary <br />increase effective December 1, 1993 and to grant all support personnel <br />a 2% salary increase effective December 1, 1993. The Board also voted <br />to request an additional $66,377 to compensate School Division <br />employees the equivalent of a .68% salary increase (which is the cost <br />of the City's Pay Plan for employees under the City Manager for FY 93- <br />94) and an additional $116,715 to be used to restore two teaching <br />positions and to purchase additional supplies, audio-visual equipment, <br />and computer hardware and software. Upon motion, duly seconded and by <br />unanimous vote, Council approved an additional $115,000 to be <br />appropriated from the Meals Tax Fund to purchase School Division <br />capital expenditures, in the manner originally recommended by the City <br />Manager in his budget proposal. Vice-Mayor Adams made a motion to <br />increase the General Fund appropriation by $10,000 to fund a quarterly <br />newsletter and annual report, as requested by the City Manager in his <br />supplemental budget proposal. This motion was seconded by Councilman <br />Oakes. Mayor McClain said he was opposed to the publication of a City <br />newsletter when it had been in existence previously and he was still <br /> <br /> <br />
