TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 24, 1998 <br />combined rate for the two services was the lowest in the State. Council Member Dallas-invited Council <br /> <br />and the General Public to attend the Thanksgiving Day Dinner to be provided at the Sportsman' s Club, <br />stating that there would be good food and fellowship for all. Ms. Gloria Hylton asked Council to please <br />consider curb and gutter work for D and C Streets in the coming budget, and asked about the status of <br />grading of the lot and other improvements to be done to the R. P. Thomas site. Mr. Reynolds advised her <br />that further work would have to be discussed in the coming year's budget. Ms. Hylton then asked about <br />the use of the property on the opposite side of Fayette Street from the R. P. Thomas site, possibly by <br />churches, and Mr. Reynolds stated that he had encouraged various groups to contact him if they had a <br />request for the use of the site. Mr. Reynolds then took the opportunity to correct some information that <br />had appeared-in the local newspaper, stating that the City offices would be open on the coming Friday. <br /> <br /> Council next considered the need to meet in Executive Session. In accordance with Section 2.1 - <br />344 (A) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended) and upon motion, duly seconded, and by <br />unanimous recorded vote, Council convened in Executive Session for the purpose of discussing the <br />following matters: <br /> <br />A. Use of real property for public use, as authorized by Subsection 3. <br /> <br /> At the conclusion of this Executive Session, each member of Council certified that (1) only public <br />business matters exempt from open meeting requirements were discussed in said Executive Session; and <br />(2) only those business matters identified in the motion convening the Executive Session were heard, <br />discussed, or considered during said Session. <br /> <br />Following their return to open meeting Council took the following actions: <br />A, No action was taken. <br /> <br /> <br />
