Martin, to abandon a 30 - foot wide by 150 foot long, section of Thomasson Street. At the Public Hearing, it was noted that the section of Thomasson Street has never been opened and has been utilized as a driveway between the adjoining properties which are owned by the Martins. This request was contested by Michael Cannady, attorney representing Clarence Wright, an adjacent property owner. Mr. Cannady's contention is that by approving the abandonment of that section of Thomasson Street (a"paper street"), his client would be prohibited from developing his adjoining land, which consists of 14 acres. Following evidence heard at the Public Hearing, the Planning Commission voted ( 3 - 2) to recommend approval to the City Council for the abandonment of that section of Thomasson Street.
