TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 1995 <br /> <br />A regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martins- <br />ville, Virginia, with Mayor George B. Adams, Jr., presiding, was held <br />Tuesday, February 14, 1995, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, begin- <br />ning at 7:30 P.M. The following members of Council were present: <br />George B. Adams, Jr., Mayor; Mark A. Crabtree, M. Gene Teague; and <br />Clyde L. Willjams. Councilman L. D. Oakes was out of town. <br /> <br />After the invocation, followed by Mayor Adams' cordial welcome to <br />visitors present, Council approved the minutes of its January 18 and 24 <br />and February 2 and 8, 1995, meetings as circulated. <br /> <br />There was no business from the floor. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded, and by unanimous vote, Council authorized <br />an appropriation of $1,100 from the City's Meals Tax Fund for expenses <br />related to the proposed addition and remodeling of Martinsville Junior <br />High School. City Manager Reynolds noted the City had obtained the <br />services of J. K. McLawhorn to review the plans and drawings done by <br />the architectural firm of Dewberry & Davis. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded, and by unanimous vote, Council authorized <br />an appropriation of $900 from the City's Capital Reserve Fund to con- <br />duct a space needs assessment of the City's Social Services Department. <br />City Manager Reynolds noted Henry County had a contract with the archi- <br />tectural/engineering firm of Smith & Beasley to conduct such a study on <br />some of their agencies/departments which included the County's Social <br />Services Department. Since there is consideration being given to the <br />concept of combining the City and County Social Services operations, <br />there is a need that such a space needs assessment be done for the <br /> <br /> <br />
