WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 1995 <br /> <br />A special and duly-called meeting of the Council of the City of <br />Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor George B.~Adams, Jr. presiding, was <br />held Wednesday, February 8, 1995 in the Council Chamber, City Hall, <br />beginning at 8:30 P.M. The following members of Council were present: <br />George B. Adams, Jr., Mayor; Mark A. Crabtree; M. Gene~ Teague; and <br />Clyde L. Williams. Absent was Vice-MayoraL. ~. Oakes, who was away <br />from the City. <br /> <br />After the invocation,~and in accordance with Section 2.1-344(A) of the <br />CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended), and upon motion, duly seconded <br />and by unanimous recorded vote, Council convened into Executive Session <br />for the purpose of discussing the following matters: (1) discussion <br />concerning a prospective business where no previous announcement has <br />been made, as authorized by Subsection 5; and (2) appointments to the <br />Martinsville-Henry County Action Council and the Martinsville-Henry <br />County Educational Systems Optimization Task Force, as authorized by <br />Subsection 1. At the conclusion of this Executive Session, each member <br />of Council certified that (1) only public business matters exempt from <br />open meeting requirements were discussed in said Executive Session; and <br />(2) only those business matters identified in the motion convening the <br />Executive Session were heard, discussed or considered during said <br />session. <br /> <br />Regarding the second item discussed in Executive Session and upon <br />motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council authorized the <br />Mayor, in conjunction with the Chairman of the Henry County Board of <br />Supervisors, to announce the plan and formation of the Martinsville- <br />Henry County Action Council and the Martinsville-Henry County <br />Educational Systems Optimization Task Force on Saturday, February 11, <br /> <br /> <br />
