TUESDAY. JANUARY 10. 1995 <br />A regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of <br />Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor George B. Adams, Jr. presiding, was <br />held Tuesday, January 10, 1995 in the Council Chamber, City Hall, <br />beginning at 7:30 P.M. All members of Council were present: George B. <br />Adams, Jr., Mayor; L. D. Oakes, Vice-Mayor; Mark A. Crabtree; M. Gene <br />Teague; and Clyde L. Willjams. <br /> <br />After the invocation, followed by Mayor Adams' cordial welcome to <br />visitors present, Council approved the minutes of its meetings of <br />December 7 and 13, 1994 as circulated. <br /> <br />Retirement stipends were presented to George Kenneth Willjams, Public <br />Works Department, 1983-95 (who was present) and Joseph Cox, Fire <br />Department, 1970-95 (who was not present). <br /> <br />Council presented tokens of recognition to citizens for Board and <br />Commission service as follows: Michael Townsend, Transportation Safety <br />Commission, 1994, (who was present); W.F. Moorefield, IV, student <br />member, Transportation Safety Commission, 1992-94 (who was not <br />present); Martin Kravitz, Transportation Safety Commission, 1983-94 <br />(who was present); Andtea Maricich, ANCHOR Group Home Commission, 1991- <br />94 (who was present); and David Green, M-HC Economic Development <br />Corporation Board (who was not present). <br /> <br />Council conducted a public hearing and considered adoption, on second <br />reading, of Ordinance 95-1 (formerly 94-13) amending the City's <br />Business, Professional and Occupational License Tax Ordinance. J. <br />Ronnie Minter, Commissioner of Revenue, spoke in support of adoption of <br />the Ordinance, stating that its adoption would place the City's <br /> <br /> <br />
