WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 7, 1994 <br /> <br />Recommendation #13 was to form an "Educational System <br />Optimization" Task Force. The Board and Council members discussed <br />the possible structure of this Task Force. After much discussion, <br />it was agreed that the City Council and the Board of Supervisors <br />would each appoint two representatives of their school systems and <br />one representative of business. Patrick Henry Community College <br />would also be requested to appoint two members, to form a total <br />eight-member Task Force· It was agreed that all these nominees <br />would be ready for the next joint meeting at which time this Task <br />Force would also be appointed. <br /> <br />Recommendation #20 was to request an allocation of funds from the <br />A. L. Philpott Southside Economic Development Commission, whereby <br />each county or city is entitled to an amount of the existing fund <br />based on its population, with our Martinsville-Henry County <br />community receiving a minimum of 875,000. The Staff reported on <br />a proposed application to the Philpott Commission which involved <br />a City-specific project and a County-specific project and a joint <br />pro3ect which would provide staffing for implementation of the <br />Community in Transition Report. The Board and Council requested <br />that Staff continue to prepare the joint application and to report <br />back to both governing bodies. <br /> <br />There being no other business to discuss, Mayor Adams and Chairman <br /> <br />Hodges declared the meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />an~ceG.
