TUESDAY, JULY 23, 1996 <br />Member Dallas suggested the Administration ask for citizen input on a <br />juvenile curfew ordinance in the next edition of the City Newsletter; <br />(4) Council Member Haskell stated she hoped that during the annual <br />retreat Council would review the recommendations of the Action Council <br />to determine if they can be incorporated into Council's strategic plan; <br />(5) it was announced that City Council's retreat would be held from <br />6:00 p.m. August 21 through 5:00 p.m. August 23; and (6) Mayor Adams <br />suggested a tour of City facilities be held prior to the retreat. <br /> <br />].99 <br /> <br />In accordance with Section 2.1-344 (A) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, <br />and as amended) and upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous <br />recorded vote, Council convened into Executive Session for the purpose <br />of discussing the following matters: (1) an appointment to the <br />Southern Virginia Economic Development Partnership Board, as authorized <br />by Subsection 1; and (2) consultation with legal counsel and briefings <br />by staff members concerning a specific legal matter, specifically <br />proposed provisions for a contract being negotiated with another party, <br />as authorized by Subsection 7, also involving the discussion of the <br />possible acquisition of real property for a public purpose, as <br />authorized by Subsection 3. At the conclusion of this Executive <br />Session, each member of Council certified that (1) only public business <br />matters exempt from open meeting requirements were discussed in said <br />Executive Session; and (2) only those business matters identified in <br />'the motion convening the Executive Session were heard, discussed or <br />considered during said Session. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council appointed <br />Council Member M. Gene Teague to the Southern Virginia Economic <br />Development Partnership Board. <br /> <br /> <br />
