TUESDAY, JUNE 25, 1996 <br />since 1982 and several changes had since been made to the City's <br />organizational structure. One of the changes resulted in the <br />Inspection Division being under the Office of Community Development <br />rather than the Department of Public Works. In addition, the <br />appointment of the Building Official was designated as the function of <br />the Director of Public Works rather than the City Manager. Upon <br />motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council adopted the <br />following Ordinance No. 96-5: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in <br />regular session assembled on June 25, 1996, that Article II-- <br />Organization, Section 2.1--Inspection Division and Section 2.2-- <br />Personnel Appointments of the Building Code Ordinance of the City of <br />Martinsville be amended, as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 2.1 <br /> <br />Sec. 2.2 <br /> <br />ARTICLE II <br /> <br />ORGANIZATION <br /> <br />Inspection Division <br /> <br />There shall be maintained in the Office of Community <br />Development a Division of Inspections, which shall be under <br />the direct supervision of an employee of the City referred to <br />as the Building Official. <br /> <br />Personnel Appointments <br /> <br />The Building Official shall be appointed by the City Manager. <br />The Building Official may appoint such assistants as provided <br />for in the annual budget, with the approval of the City <br />Manager. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that an emergency exists, <br />Ordinance shall be effective on and after this date. <br /> <br />and that this <br /> <br />In accordance with Section 2.1-344 (A) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, <br />and as amended) and upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous <br />recorded vote, Council convened into Executive Session for the purpose <br />of discussing the following matters: (1) a personnel matter under the <br />jurisdiction of Council, as authorized by Subsection 1; (2) a personnel <br />matter under the jurisdiction of Council, as authorized by Subsection <br /> <br /> <br />
