142 <br /> <br />WEDNESDAY, MAY 1, 1996 <br /> <br />A special and duly-called meeting of the Council of the City of <br />Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor George B. Adams, Jr. presiding, was <br />held Wednesday, May 1, 1996 in the Council Chamber, City Hall, <br />beginning at 12:00 Noon. All members of Council were present: George <br />B. Adams, Jr., Mayor; L. D. Oakes, IVice-Mayor; Mark A. Crabtree; M. <br />Gene Teague; and Clyde L. Williams. <br /> <br />The purpose of this special meeting was to conduct a Council/Staff work <br />session. Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council <br />decided to waive its normal, per-meeting pay for this work session. <br /> <br />Council set a special meeting for May 10, 1996 beginning at 1:00 p.m. <br />to receive a presentation from a representative of Robinson, Farmer & <br />Cox regarding the financial management study which was performed for <br />the City and Schools. <br /> <br />Council agreed to be present with the Henry County Board of Supervisors <br />on May 23, 1996 at 7:30 a.m. to recognize persons who served with the <br /> <br />Community-in-Transition <br />Optimization Task Force. <br />that time. <br /> <br />Action Council and Educational Systems <br />An official meeting will not be convened at <br /> <br />In accordance with Section 2.1-344 (A) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, <br />and as amended) and upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous <br />recorded vote, Council convened into Executive Session for the purpose <br />of discussing the following matters: (1) the investment of public <br />funds where competition or bargaining is involved, where, if made <br />public initially, the financial interest of the governmental unit would <br />be adversely affected, as authorized by Subsection 6; and (2) the <br /> <br /> <br />
