TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 1995 <br /> <br />of the Redevelopment Plan hereby approved, it is found and <br />determined that certain official action must be taken by this <br />Council with reference, among other things, the vacating and <br />removal of public rights-of-ways; and accordingly, this <br />Council hereby pledges its cooperation in helping to carry <br />o~t the Redevelopment Plan and requests the various <br />officials, department heads, boards, and agencies of the City <br />having administrative responsibilities in the premises <br />likewise to cooperate to such end and to exercise their <br />respective functions and powers in a manner consistent with <br />the Redevelopment Plan and stand ready to consider to take <br />appropriate action upon proposals and measures designed to <br />effectuate the Redevelopment Plan. <br /> <br />Vice-Mayor Oakes requested that the Administration provide quarterly <br />updates on the progress of the Redevelopment Plan. <br /> <br />Council considered comments from the public that would identify future <br />cable-related needs and interests as well as the performance of the <br />cable operator under the current franchise in order to receive <br />information to be considered in developing a new Cable TV Franchise <br />agreement. Assistant City Manager Dewey Cashwell highlighted the <br />issues surrounding the renewal of the City's cable franchise, stating <br />that the current franchise extends until December 31, 1996. The Mayor <br />then invited comments from the public. J. B. Travis, 401 Fifth Street, <br />stated he was generally satisfied with the service provided by Adelphia <br />Cable. In response to a question from W. W. Edwards, 703 Second <br />Street, Mr. Cashwell explained that the cost of cable service is not <br />regulated by the City and noted the franchise is non-exclusive. Joseph <br />Price, Regional Manager of Adelphia Cable, stated the Federal <br />Communications Commission establishes guidelines on the pricing of <br />cable service. Councilman Crabtree noted he had received complaints <br />from residents of the Royal Oaks Townhouses over delays of several <br />months in receiving cable service. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council adopted, on <br /> <br /> <br />
