]. 34 <br /> <br /> TUESDAY, AUGUST 25, 1998 <br /> <br />Council next considered the items on its Consent Agenda. Upon motion by Vice-Mayor Teague, <br /> <br />second by Council Member Dallas, and unanimous vote (5-Ayes--Crabtree, Teague, Dallas, Haskell and <br />Roop; 0-Nayes), Council approved the Consent Agenda as follows: <br /> <br /> 1. Accepted and appropriated $3 13.75 from State Forfeited Assets funds into <br /> Revenue Account 01-000500-2404020 for expenditure in Account 01-220200-5415007-- <br /> State Confiscated Assets in the Commonwealth Attorney's budget in the General Fund. <br /> <br /> The next item on the Agenda for CounciF s consideration was a presentation by the Patrick Henry <br />Development Council of the organization's Annual Report and Marketing Plan. Ms. Sherry Ramsey, <br />Executive Director of the PHDC, made this presentation. Ms. Ramsey emphasized that the PHDC's <br />primary mission continues to be marketing of sites and buildings in the Martinsville-Henry County area, <br />and proceeded to describe the organization' s goals and objectives with regard to planned marketing and <br />promotion efforts, publications, collaboration with regional economic development organizations, <br />attendance of trade shows and targeted industries. Ms. Ramsey stated that the ultimate goals of the PHDC <br />for the coming year included the creation of 500 new jobs, through the expansion of three existing <br />industries and the placement of two new industries. She stated that in the past year 788 new jobs had <br />been created and $48 million in new business investment had occurred. Council thanked the PHDC <br />Board and Ms. Ramsey for their accomplishments on behalf of the community, and for the presentation <br />given. <br /> <br />Under items not on the Agenda: <br /> <br />Mayor Crabtree noted that City Manager Earl Reynolds, Jr. had been highlighted in the most <br />recent issue of Virginia Review Magazine, as a result of his election to the position of President of <br />the Virginia Local Government Manager' s Association, and Council registered their appreciation <br />for Mr. Reynolds' professional accomplishment. <br /> <br /> <br />
