Mayor Adams then asked where things were with progress on <br />the new jail project, and was told that Council would get a report on this on April 23. SheriffDraper then <br />addressed Council on his need for an additional vehicle that had been cut from his budget request, <br />emphasizing the need for this vehicle to be restored in order to replace a worn out vehicle. Vice-Mayor <br />Crabtree then complimented the Sheriff on doing an excellent job, and Council Member Teague stressed the <br />need to continue to track the jail population figures against the jail population forecasts, and keep the public <br />informed so as to communicate the need for the new jail. Council Member Haskell then asked if the level of <br />violence in the existing facilities had dropped as a result of the new temporary facility, and was told that it <br />had dropped dramatically, as well as the amount of contraband. <br /> <br />Council noted that their next meeting would be on April 22, at 7:30 P.M. to discuss the Schools budget. <br />Following some additional discussion of budget calendar and departments to be reviewed, and upon <br />unanimous vote, the meeting was adjourned. <br /> <br />Dewey P.
