TUESDAY, JANUARY 13, 1998 <br />from Account 01-310100-5408000--Equipment Operation/Maintenance in the General Fund, to <br /> <br />be used to purchase an in-car video camera for the Police Department. <br /> <br />Under items not on the Agenda, Council discussed the following: <br /> <br /> The Council, following some discussion, expressed a desire that the Clerk of Council address the issue <br />of bringing the Indexing of Council Minutes up to date. <br /> <br /> Council Member Dallas stated he would like to see more attention devoted to the creation of more <br />Handicap parking spaces in the Uptown. <br /> <br /> Mayor Adams noted the content of a letter he had received from Mayor James Eason, of Hampton, <br />Virginia, writing on the economic plight of cities in Virginia, and cited this as very important reading for the <br />other members of Council. <br /> <br /> Council Member Dallas expressed his hope that the Police Department would continue to track the <br />experience other Virginia communities are having with curfews, and provide feedback to the Council on this <br />subject. <br /> <br />Council next considered the need to meet in Executive Session. In accordance with Section 2.1-344 (A) of <br />the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended) and upon motion, duly seconded, and by unanimous <br />recorded vote, Council convened in Executive Session for the purpose of discussing the following matters: <br />(A) Appointments/Re-appointments to various Boards/Commissions, as authorized by Subsection 1 .; (B.) <br />Possible acquisition of real property for public purposes, as authorized by Subsection 3.; (C.) and (D.) <br />Consultation with legal counsel, as authorized by Subsection 7., twoitems. <br /> <br />At the conclusion of this Executive Session, each member of Council certified that (1) only public business <br />matters exempt from open meeting requirements were discussed in said executive session; and (2) only those <br /> <br /> <br />
