J.12 <br /> .TUESDAY, JANUARY 6, 1998 <br /> that Adelphia has done little to establish trust with its customers, and suggested that when competition <br /> <br /> becomes present in the community Adelphia will lose customers. <br /> <br /> Mr. Pete Hornick of Collinsville spoke next, and expressed his criticism of the programming and conduct of <br /> Cable 6 Television, a lease channel on the Adelphia System. Mr. Hornick stated that his wife had been <br /> verbally attacked and abused by Cable 6 staff and call-in viewers who refused to identify themselves, and <br /> asked that Cable 6 be taken off the air. Mr. Hornick also stated that Adelphia's rates should be closely <br /> examined. <br /> <br />Mr. R. J. Frye of Collinsville then spoke, and complained about the loss of the CNN network channel from the <br />Basic subscriber's package in 1991-92, and spoke against an extended franchise term contract. Mr. Frye also <br />stated a desire for better coverage of local college sports events and asked whether a channel might be <br />provided within the Basic package to offer such programming. Mr. Price responded that the system was <br />currently at capacity for channels, and that the rebuild planned for the system would add such channeI <br />capacity. <br /> <br />Mr. William Smith of Scenic View Drive, Martinsville spoke next, stating that he felt Adelphia's Basic service <br />was too high when compared with other nearby localities, and that the amount charged was more than many <br />elderly residents could afford to pay. Mr. Terry Nosse, local Manager of Adelphia operations, stated that <br />Adelphia had restructured its packages to offer a "bare .bones" rate, in order to make Basic more affordable. <br />Mr. Smith pointed out that a recent consumer magazine article had discussed high cable rates and a consumer <br />petition to freeze rates nation-wide until the reason for such high rates could be studied. Otherwise, he said, <br />rates would continue to climb. <br /> <br />Mr. Arthur Emberson of Collinsville spoke next, and complimented the local Adelphia officials on their <br />responsiveness to customers, but also spoke against a franchise of six years or longer, on the basis that the <br /> <br /> <br />
