Councilmember Dallas asked what would happen if Adelphia's franchise was not renewed, and was <br />told by Councilmember Teague that they would continue to operate, without a franchise, until all problems <br />were resolved. Mr. Dallas then asked if there was truly anything that could be done to prevent Adelphia from <br />operating in the City, to which the answer was no. Mayor Adams asked whether the County had the authority <br />to regulate right of way in the County as the City has, to which Mr. Clower stated no, the Virginia <br />Department of Transportation does that in the County. Draf[ copies of both the proposed Cable Television <br />Ordinance and Franchise Agreement were then distributed to members of the Board and Council, and all <br />concurred that January 6, 1998, was a good date for the next Joint meeting. Councilmember Teague then <br />thanked the Adelphia representatives for their hard work and cooperation, and Mr. Nosse and his group <br />reciprocated these sentiments. <br /> <br />There being no further official business, both the City Council and the Board of Supervisors continued their <br />respective Public hearings on the Cable Television Franchise Renewal, and adjourned their joint meeting. <br /> <br /> <br />
